One hundred years on.........
This decade marked the one-hundredth year since Kibataro Oki established Meikosha, the company to which Oki Electric traces its roots. Over those 100 years, Oki Electric had grown to become a foremost manufacturer of telecommunications equipment with leading-edge electronics technology as its basic business.
1982
Oki Electric established an Office Automation business
division.
1983
Oki entered into the mobile
communications business through a joint research programme with US
company, Bell Laboratories, developing products for the North
American Market. This resulted in winning a contract with AMPS Co.
to supply them with car telephones in the US.
1987
Oki established Oki UK in Scotland.
