Fonts downloaded by SDM do not have the correct typeface ID
15/10/2008
When downloading TrueType fonts with SDM, the typeface identifier is an option by which the font may be chosen.
In SDM choose "Printers-Print PCL Fonts" and examine the "Escape Sequence" column in the printout. The last numeric field is the typeface identifier.
It is often the case that you may want to choose the value of this typeface. This typeface is not available for editing in the UI of SDM. There is a configuration file on the path C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Okidata\SMConfig.dat In this configuration file there is a field that is the next typeface ID that SDM will use.
For example: TypeFace=3003
The next downloaded typeface will be 3003 (unless one is specified in the PCLT tag table of the TrueType font). If it is desired, this can be changed, to any value less than 65536, by editing this text field and resaving the file, before launching SDM.
Note: If the same font is repeated downloaded with a different TypeFace ID, then the "Print PCL Fonts" report can be out of date until the printer is reset. This can be done by power cycling the printer or from SDM using "Printers-Administrator Functions" and "Reboot Printer".
The SDM administrator's password must be supplied for this operation. After this operation, it may be necessary to rediscover, the printer if the DCHP protocol is in use on the network, since the IP address could change.
